    Hi guys,

Over the last week my alarm seems to be having little fits. Basically when i press the unlock button the siren goes off, none of the lights flash though. So when it goes off i have to press the lock button and then the unlock button again to stop it.

I have read through the hand book and theres no info on it. Also searched the forum but couldn't find any threads about this is issue.

Anyone have any ideas why its doing this? its driving me crazy!

    cheers
    Matt

I have moved this thread to the correct forum section

When you press the buttons on your fob does the little light on the fob stay illuminated when this happens?

When I was testing my toad alarm out the other day I held the lock button and the alarm went off. My thoughts are that perhaps a button could be sticking and causing the alarm to activate what I think is the panic mode function

If you can easily take the key fob apart then it may be worth trying the alarm without the top face/buttons fitted and see if it still happens

I know very little about alarms but this is what I would check first, after that I would be checking with an approved alarm installer

    Hi guys,

Thanks for your responses, sorry ive taken ages to reply as I thought I had solved the problem. All I did was start using the other key I have and all was fine, until the last couple of days.

On Sunday evening I got out of my car and pressed the lock button and nothing happened, the LED on the fob flashed but nothing so I locked by the key. When I came back I unlocked by the key. When I got home I tried it by the fob and it locked straight away and the alarm armed. Then yesterday after work I tried to unlock it and no response to the fob. Had to open with the key which set the alarm off, put the key in the ignition and turned to 2 which shut the alarm off and opened the passenger door and boot locks. Now today it has worked fine so far!

So I seem to have got rid of the original problem of the post but now have this problem.

I first thought that it was losing its coding but surely it would just stop working? also if the battery was flat it wouldn't work intermittently?

    Any ideas?

Ronnie, the fob is a 3 button one. Standard BMW alarm. Picture upload keeps failing so heres a link
