Can I just ask what this capacitor thingy is for and what it does? I'm having a few issues with the aircon unit in my e36 318is at the moment...

    Cheers.

I see you've now fixed it but it's just to say a friend of mine from Stockton fixed mine. He got the part from Maplins around 9 months ago and I think he got it from Teeside and not Middlesbrough

I've got to fix my other one to go into my car as I can't leave the fixed one in as it's been butchered a part of my blue LED project I didn't finish. It's 30 miles to nearest Maplin and you reckon they don't have them so I may just buy the one billywhizz1984 suggested. Then again I could simply desolder the capacitor from the working one and resolder it into the untouched AC unit as I'm in no rush to sell the spare AC unit

as I've got it right beside me, I've just uploaded a pic of mine that is the one from Maplins (35v) and it been working fine since it was fitted

:EDIT: I'm no electrical expert but after looking on the Maplin website, I think it's this one 0.47uf 35v part number WW58N
