    Hi All,

    I hope you can help.

I have a 728i (E38), recently whilst driving I lose sound, even though the radio remains on, I can forward tracks, switch radio stations etc.

On a couple of occasions mid way through my journey the sound comes back. While Im driving if the sound goes I have tried parking turning the iginition on / off still no luck. I have also tried disconnecting the battery/reconnecting/reconnecting the CD changer- still the same.

I have found that generally in the mornings the sound works- for a few minutes.

One of my friends said it might be a short in the wiring- what do you guys reckon it is- if it is a short is there any way that I can diagnose it rather than paying BMW £200 to do it?

    Thanks in advance,

    I.

Is there not a speed sensor that changes the volume according to how fast you are going, i know ther is an option in my i drive, maybe that has thrown a wobbly?

Does it happen when you are stationary at the lights for example? Or does it happen in specific circumstances or speeds? Or a bit random.

Sorry can't be much more help... Red.

Check the connections on the amplifier in the boot IIRC, http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...28&hg=65&fg=25
