Is there anyone out there who can help.
My 1997 Z3 2.8 alarm (3G EWS) has been making clicking noises from beneath the glove box all afternoon & while driving along the alarm keeps going off. Now I've stopped the alarm keeps making squeaking noises & goes off intermittently with the pitch of the alarm going up & down as it sounds. Arming or disarming the system with the remote makes not the slightest difference. Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this fault & is there a way of disabling the alarm? Apparently there is a key that you can use to switch off the alarm, but I didn't get one with the car when I bought it so the simple solution isn't an option I'm afraid.

Some 3g sirens didn't have the key switch, have you had a look on the siren to see if there is a key hole? This will tell you if you have a lost key.
Either way, sounds like the siren is faulty, so disconnect it and let the battery back up go flat, stuff a rag in the siren to quieten it down.
Then test the functions of the alarm arm and disarm and central locking.
If ok, new siren, if not its off to an auto electrician!

Thanks a lot for that. I did remove the alarm sounder in desperation last night & all seems quiet now that the battery's run down. I did notice some arcing burns on three of the contacts to the alarm sounder when I looked at it in the light this morning, does this indicate a fault in the alarm system or just the connector?
