I bought myself a 1997 523 the other day, I have been after one for ages. I got it cheap as it had a light front end bump. A new bonnet and bumper and the thing looks like new, BUT, the central locking does not work at all, the windscreen wipers and washers dont work, the airbag light is on, the interior lights do not work at all and the rear electric windows dont work!
I checked all the fuses and there all fine.
    Any one have any ideas?

Would be definitely worth a check, I think. Earths do have a habit of snapping in the event of an impact, and are very easily overlooked.

well i have found the problem, checked the earths and they were ok, looked under the glove box to discover the genral module had been nicked. Got another one from a friend with a 51plate 530d and bingo. every thing works!
