    Hi there.
    Towbar successfully fitted, but having loads of problems getting the electrics correct.
    Ive referred to the 'Electrical troubleshooting manual e36 328i 1997 model year' found online and also the 'Electrical troubleshooting manual Series 3 - e36 1998 model year'. I have clarified the tow socket pins functions from online guidance too;
    Pin 1 - LH Indicator (yellow wire)
    Pin 2 - Fog light (Red wire)
    Pin 3 - Earth (Brown wire)
    Pin 4 - RH Indicator (Green wire)
    Pin 5 - Tail light - RHS? (White wire)
    Pin 6 - Brake lights - (Blue wire)
    Pin 7 - Tail light - LHS? (Black wire)

    The loom wires I have connected to so far are;
    Pin 1 - Blue/Green
    Pin 2 - Yellow/white
    Pin 3 - Brown
    Pin 4 - Blue/brown
    All of which I think are correct.

    Heres where the fun begins (I think):
    This combination sets off the warning message on the onboard computer that there is a problem with the brakes circuit. It also puts the indicators and tail lights on when the headlights are activated. Also the brake lights don't work ;
    Pin 5 - Grey/violet/yellow (bands)
    Pin 6 - Blue/red
    Pin 7 - Grey/white/yellow (bands)

    This combination doesn't set off the brakes circuit warning message, but it also puts the indicators and tail lights on when the headlights are activated. Also the brake lights don't work;
    Pin 5 - Grey/blue/yellow (bands)
    Pin 6 - Blue/red
    Pin 7 - Grey/green/yellow (bands)

    This combination doesn't set off the brakes circuit warning message, but it puts the left hand indicator and right hand tail light only on when the headlights are activated. Also the brake lights don't work;

    Pin 5 - Grey/green/yellow (bands)
    Pin 6 - Blue/red
    Pin 7 - Grey/violet/yellow (bands)

    Any ideas where I am going wrong?
    Many thanks.
    Andy
