I had a some sticking cam followers and wanted to change my vanos seal. So i stripped the cylinder head down and rebuild it. I also fitted a new crank case vent and cleaned the throttle body and air idle controle valve while i was doing the other work. Everything was going well until i had a spare plug that i can't seem to find where it goes. Here it is pictured below:

The plug has two cables going to it. The cable colours are white with orange traser and white.

Any help identifing this plug would be greatly appreciated!

    For the wiring diagram see:
BMW ETM - Electrical Troubleshooting Manual

I had a good look under '97 328i engine, but couldn't find the colours. In this position there are a few sensors under the inlet manifold, and on thr oil filter. I presume you checked the obvious cam/crank position sensors? If I find anything I shall post. Good luck.

Another thought, on my V8 this would be going to the starter motor. There is a two pin connector that looks just like this, behind the oil filter. It has the same sleeving. and looks just like this.
