Yes, I think I should stick to just polishing and driving it (325tds '97)

So headlamp washers not working. I see what I think is two pumps in washer bottle. But which one is screen and which one is headlamps me thinks.

So I take the leads of one of the pumps (nearest engine, not nearest front of car) and put 12V across it. It sparks a bit, but doesn't pump. Bit odd me thinks, so I put the connector back on and now I don't have any washers on screen or headlamps.

I used two leads, one from the positive post in the engine bay, the other from an earthed point in engine bay, and just touched them onto the wo terminal in on the pump. I figured it wouldn't matter which way around, I thought the pump would just go backwards if I had reversed polarity.

Can naybody explain to me how I've been a muppet?

Yeah I'll do that tomorrow. It's the 5L tank I think. having trouble finding out if it really does have two pumps, or if it was something else that I connected two

Mine has headlight washers as well, it does have 2 pumps. IIRC the bigger pump is for the headlight washers....

Check the fuses tomorrow, then get back to us Phil....

Steve - the next installment :

Looked at it, poked it a bit and then the windscreen washer worked again.

    No fuses blown.

Put 12V across what I now know is the headlamp washer pump, works fine.
Used a meter and found no voltage across the blades in the terminal block connecting to the pump, so no juice going to the pump.

Is there a relay, can only find one lot of relays, despite what Hanynes says?

Sorry Phil, im abit late back to this one.
My headlight washers only work with the headlights on. Also there is a few seconds delay before they spray...
The screenwashers are immediate, then about 3 seconds later the headlight washers spray. So maybe there is a time delay in the relay which is why you may not be getting a feed right away.....
