Hi everyone. I was hoping someone could give me some help with a very strange problem.

This is my girlfriends old car I am trying to get sorted to sell.

    Its a 1997 323I auto coupe.

The rear drivers side light did not work, I found that the connector was not good so bypassed to the tracking on the cluster. But there seems to be lots of issues. it looks like the foglight is on all the time on the passenger side.

Can you please tell me if the lights and fog lights are the same double bulb on the outside of the car. What is the middle lower bulb for, it seems to be always on when the lights are on.

If i disconnect the bypass I did the drivers side outside light comes on when I press the foglight button, turn the fog off and no lights on that side but the passenger side seems to be main light and fog all the time.

    Help please

Hi mate. I have added the vehicle details to the thread title for you as per the forum rules....

The middle lower bulb should be a single filament, they are the rear sidelights, the outer bulbs are twin filament and should be the fogs, the inners asre the stop lights.
Have the rear lamps been replaced at all?

I have just been having another go. the lights are original, but bulbs were replaced. There was a problem with a holder on one side and on the drivers side the bridging track that sends power to the main light was broken, I have repaired this. I now have lower outer light on with lights and then the second filament kicks in with the rear fogs. so that all works. There was only one holder in the lower middle.
