Hi guys, I have the 18 button OBC to fit into my car which currently has the basic 7 button OBC. I know I need to get hold of the plugs for the 18 button, but whats the difference between the plugs for the 7 and 18?

I'm gna pop over to the breakers to see if there is a car with one in, but if the OBC has gone, but the plugs are still there, I need to know I will be chopping off the correct 18 button plugs and not 7.

Are the plugs for the 18 button a different color or just has more wires? The back of the 18 button OBC has a black on the left, white on the right, looking at it from the back.

Have a read of the many, many guides, both in this forum and on the web - they will tell you the difference in the wiring.

As for the plugs your car will have a black plug and ideally you need a white plug, however if you get another black plug you can make it fit by trimming thebump off the edge with a craft knife.

For instant gratification I fitted the 18 button in Wife's 8 Button car by moving just two wires from the black plug to the white plug so it would slide in and power up giving her the same functionality as before except readable and now just need to add other bits as and when

1996 E36 328i will any trip computer fit
