Hi guys, I got myself 3 switch circuit boards for our climate control units and some 3mm blue leds. I have managed to swap out the orange LEDs that are INSIDE the 8 main switches on the left and right. HOWEVER, when I removed the switches on my own front board to swap them for the newly changed blue switches, I can only get 4 of them to light up. And yes, ALL the LEDs are fitted the correct polarity. For those that are thinking of doing it, the ROUND side of the LED goes to the WORDED side of the switch. Takes about 5 mins to grind out the orange LED and fit the blue one.
Left side, top 2,and right side, middle 2 come ON. I thought maybe the non lit ones were blown, so used an led touching its legs against the pins on the back of the board to see if that lit up. It did not light. SO touched it onto the pins of the switches that WERE lit, it DID light up. So theres no power to the non lit switches. I accidently shorted a couple of the pins that weren't lit up togther, and the rest of the UNLIT leds lit up. Whats going on?? SO, ALL the LEDs in the switches DO work, just the unlit ones don't light up when they should.
I thought I had blown something on the board, so yes, I CUT the 2 ribbon cables to the switch panel, and swapped over all the blue led switches onto a 2nd board, and the same thing is happening with that one too now.
Left side top 2, right side middle 2. Anyone got any ideas? I've just a BIN from CRM on EBay for another control panel. I don't want to start working on that one till I find out what the problem is. Once I get the problem resolved, I can start converting the spare orange LED switches from the other boards I have to blue LEDs, and and convert some other units then.
Also, have taken apart a 2nd headlight switch to see whats involved in that one. Has an orange diffuser/light carrier which the light mode sticker is stuck to. A new clear diffuser needs to be made for that one. Is this more hassle than it's worth? Put pics up later to show you.
