    i own an e36 323i and a fortnight bk the abs and asc lights came on then when driving they went off on there own then bk on. i have carsoft and all i get is module does not respond. i look it to bmw specialist and his machnine wnt read either or the snap on machnie so i assumed it was abs pump module so fitted another one and still no joy, all the relays are ok the fuses ok no errors on dme the abs and asc are not working i have ran out of options now i have had the dme out all connections are fine all connections to fuse box fine, please canyou give me an idea as to what it is im pulling my hair out! thanks



    ihave also tested the asc strangler which chokes the engine when activated thatis working fine

    hi m8 i had same sort of trouble with abs/asc but carsoft kept saying asc computer faulty i tryed 2 abs/asc units and kept getting same reuslt and my abs light was on it turned out to be the rear abs sensor on drivers side wasnt giving any reading with the digital multimeter replaced it and the light went off on its own this may not be your problem but its worth a look

    there's one more sensor which is worth checking, especially since you said ABS light is coming on and off by itself. it's the number 12 and that would be the first part to check, i think.
