    a brand new starter motor was fitted last month with no problems at all, until this morning i went to start and it cut out mid sequence and now when i attempt to start it smoked a little from down that area and ignition is going on and of and a little click from the starter?????????? any ideas or anyone elsa ever had similar problems and know where to start?? thanks

    have you checked the wires are connected on the starter etc, as one or more mite be hanging and sparking which is causing smoke, its just a guess but have a look, and is the starter defo a good one?

    Starter clicking & flashing ignition lights are classic flat battery symptoms

    ye had the same problem myself on two different occasions each being resolved firstly with tightening connections and second time round flat battery
