    Hi,

First off, Side lights, full beams, fog lights and rear lights are all ok. Headlights are standard units with standard bulbs, haven't been messed with in any way in the 18 months I've had the car.

I noticed a little while back when I turned on my lights, that the right headlight didn't come on as I was pulling off the drive. I carried on driving and soon enough the right headlight fired into action. After this the headlights were fine, no problems at all.

Car has been sitting for around 3 weeks, I went to turn on the lights, and nothing. Sidelights were ok, but no dipped beams. The left and right were both not working.

I popped open the bonnet and as I did, the right one (the one that usually was giving me grief) fired up as the bonnet shook the car. Immediately I suspected a loose connection. I took the rear cover off the light, but it was all ok, nothing loose, nothing corroded. The left light is the same, but will not work at all.

I've just been out there, started the car, no lights again, opened the bonnet, still nothing, and as I clipped off the back of the light cover and lightly knocked the right bulb, it came on. Still, the left light is no good.

All the fuses are ok, I'm not sure about the relays.

The lights have been faultless in the 18 months I've had the car until now. Maybe they just need changing?

What are your thoughts on this? No lights in the dark winter eves isn't much fun!

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like there must be something loose, even check the bulb in the holder and check the earthing connections as they often come loose and with no grounding it'll fail even if theres a 12 volt supply

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. The bulbs are nice and tight in there and all the wires are connected nice and tight too.

I'm tempted to go to hellfrauds and pick up some bulbs and see if that's the prob. Hmmm.

You could test for voltage at the fuses for the headlights also using a test light.

I changed the bulbs, all sorted!

I splashed out and got some of those fancy blue tipped jobbies from Halfords. They freshen the car up a bit
