    Hi boys and girls,

I have a problem with my central locking and I was wondering if anyone else has had the problem and managed to solve it.

When I first got the car it had not alarm fobs and the alarm seemed to be disabled. If I unlocked the car from the drivers side the door would unlock and so would the boot, but the passenger doors would remain locked. If I unlock the boot, the drivers door unlocks, but not the passenger door. If I unlock the car from the passenger side then both doors would unlock along with the boot. The same applies when locking the car too. If I lock it from the passenger side, everything locks, but if I lock it from the drivers side only the boot and drivers side lock.

I have recently reprogrammed the car alarm fobs which I bought thinking it may fox it, but it doesn't so i am no nearer to knowing why this happens

If you could pass on any information to why this happens I would appreciate it

    Many thanks

    Stuart

Sounds like the passanger door solinoid for the central locking is faulty.

You can get to it and unplug it then put 12v to it and see if it works, if it does then its a wiring fault or the CL module at fault, but my guess its the solinoid.

    good luck fixing it.

Could this also be called a lock actuator?

What year is the car and engine size?

Yes it is known also as a lock actuator.

Sent from my Sega Megadrive using electricity.

The car I have is a 1997 BMW 316i (1.6) Compact. I searched on ebay, but not much came up under solenoid. I have also had a look at the pelican site. Is this a simple repair once the door card is off?
