    hi have just done a 1994 m52 2.0 conversion on my 1997 e36 316. does anyone know what ecu i need? thanks.

    Are you certain it is an M52? It should be an M50.
    If you have brought over the engine loom and sensors, then you'll want a Siemens MS40, they should have a chassis number sticker on them, so check from that to make of the build date.

    Post 1/95 and you will need to get the EWS synced.
    Pre 1/95 and you may have to either remove the EWS, or cut an EWS wire.

    not sure if the engine is 1994, might be 1995 as i bought on ebay a while ago, but it was listed as an m52 engine and im sure i remember reading m52 on an engine stamp or sticker somewhere, the ecu i have is a siemens ms40.1 which im sure was out of a 1993 car. would this work? thanks.
