new here so please bear with me!

got the car only a week ago and the key would only unlock in the drivers door and wouldnt lock so had to get out and climb in through the passenger side to lock up all the time.
so decided to install remote central locking this morning which is all done and working apart from the drivers door. thats not working at all. its fine if i use the key because it unlocks everything and when i lock it from inside it locks everything too.
i fitted the central locking kit to the plug behind the glove box if that helps. got today off so will be hoping to do it today.

    thanks!

Have you had the drivers door card of yet to see what happens when the key is turned in the lock?

Would all the locks apart from the drivers lock from the boot?

That will be the drivers door actuator gone then from the sounds of it, number 9 here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...39&hg=41&fg=40

With the door card off check when the central locking is operated if the actuator works or not.

thanks for your help. ordered a second hand one from ebay and came couple of days after. had trouble fitting it. what a small space to work in with so many fiddly bits but all done and working. one little thing though, i'd be driving down the road and all of a sudden my interior lights would come on which is highly annoying! also is anyone coming to the bhp show at lydden?

The interior light problem will be down to the switch on the door catch, turn the ignition on with the window down to be safe, then push and pull on your doors until you trace the one that is playing up. Most likely the drivers. you can try adjusting the catch in more so it holds the door in tighter

im pretty sure its not a door catch problem because when it happens i have gone around the car opening and shutting every door and the boot and the light still stays on. it also happened the other day in a car park but its been fine locking and unlocking, fading in and out and when i got back to my car it was on!! but still locked really really annoying. its left off at the moment because i dont want to wake up to a dead battery lol.

Another area to check is the boot wiring at the hinge, the wires can short out against each other and is known to cause problems. Like on the e36 here http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...problems-t208/
