Hi all - wonder if anyone can help please...I`ve got a 97R 323i coupe and I`ve just got from the dealer a set of red/white rear light clusters to replace the original amber/red ones.

However...post-fitting, the passenger side brake light is now not working but all worked fine before. I think it may have something to do with the new clusters having 8 pins in the socket, but the loom in the car only having 6 pins with I think No`s 3 & 4 empty. I checked the old cluster, and that matches the loom - only having 6.

Wierdly enough, I checked the drivers side and thats got 7.

Help please as I need to get this fixed asap before I get stopped!

    Thank you for any advice..

Where did you get the lights from?

Hi Ronnie, they were from a Dealer, with the Part No`s being 82.19.9.403.097 and .098 - according the the dealer network`s database, the correct ones for my chassis number and model with a OBC.

Whats even more wierd is that I`ve tried replugging the loom into the old cluster and now that doesn`t work either! I`m going home to triple check all the bulbs and contacts now (again)!....

ARgh...this is getting more serious - centre window rear brake light doesn`t work either..

Ok..so basically passenger side rear brake light and fog, and rear centre brake light in the window not working. Everything else fine.

Might it have something to do with the BM Specialist installing an M-Tech kit at the same time...I`m pretty positive it all worked before :-(

THanks to anyone who can help.

Hi Ronnie - yes, done so and thought about relays as well. Do you reckon they`re all on the same circuit/fuse then ?

    Cheers.

Fuse 17,33,37 do the lights/rear fogs, there's a relay also behind the glovebox according to Autodata.
Check for power at the fuses

Cheers for that - I`ve checked and they`re ok.

Just made a breakthrough - the working, right hand cluster and loom both have 7 pins, but in a different configuration - and from looking at wiring diagrams
    http://www.wedophones.com/Manuals/BM...g%20Manual.pdf
....I reckon the feed for high centre light and left are fed off the right one.

By plugging BOTH old clusters back in everything works :-)

I`m going to the dealer to argue tomorrow that its not the straight swopover they said it would be - if thats the case I`ll repost here to let everyone else know how to fix the same problem!

    Cheers again.

I have heard of this problem before with these lights like this but haven't come across it myself so it would be good if you can find out some more, I shall try and have a look myself when I get 2 minutes.
