TBH I'm not sure - I don't have a handbook for the car (the one in the wallet is for a compact!) but I did check every fuse in the under bonnet fusebox before trying anything else so if those fuses are under the bonnet then they are all okay - is there another fusebox elsewhere or any inline fuses for the roof?

Hoping the new module will arrive for the weekend so I will report back whatever the outcome ....

Just been out with the torch, there's three in-line fuses attached directly to the battery (the kind you'd use for an amp install, aftermarket - non OE) one of which had blown, I've replaced it and just tried the reset procedure again but it still just does the window thing !.. it is a little too dark to see properly though so I'll have a better look as soon as I get a chance - probably Saturday am now as it will be dark when I go to work and dark when I get home tomorrow and Friday ..... winter

Thanks for the advice, I'll let you know how I get on !

He was looking for a fuse F49 in the boot as I'm not sure if it is just U.S. models that have it.

No factory fitted looking fuses in my boot (or at least that I can see with a torch) - I will try to get 1/2hour at it tomorrow lunchtime otherwise I'll investigate further on Saturday morning (hopefully will have the new module then too)!

Thanks for the help guys.... and Matt, sorry for hijacking your thread!

I think the fuse in the boot is a US model thing.
Here's some more info in case it should help: http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/tech...onvertible.htm

Hi Gildersol, I've seen that Pelican Parts doc before - do you know how to view 'Project 70' or do I have to buy the book for that?.... it says in that article that there is a sensor to tell the roof the window position and if that sensor fails the roof won't function....see project 70... I have searched the pp site but can't find project 70.... in the technical docs I've got it refers to comminucation between the roof and window modules but doesn't mention a sensor to check window position...?

Amazingly the new module turned up in this mornings post so I rushed home at lunch, plugged it in, dropped the roof, re-engaged all the motors and tried the reset procedure....... it didn't work, it didn't even do the window thing... not sure if that's because the module isn't compatible or if there's something else a miss..... or even if the module needs 'telling' to run the semi-auto program as it's from a fully-auto car??.... I'll try to have another look in the dark tonight....

One thing that may be significant but might just be how things are - the motor that lowers the roof only works in one direction when power is supplied to it directly - this doesn't make sense to me as I thought reversing the polarity would reverse the motor.... I've supplied 12v to the thick red and green wire (obviously with all plugs disconnected) one way round the motor spins freely the other way nothing happens..... is this normal?

The other thing (the thing that made me think it was the CVM at fault) is that carsoft won't talk to the CVM, it talks to all the other modules fine but not the CVM, I just get "module does not respond" ..... is this common with Carsoft 6.5SP1 and has anyone got any tips for get it talking..... As yet I haven't tried Carsoft with the new module but I will also try that tonight.....

.....any suggestions/ideas where to look next gratefully received !
