Ive got to look at an E36 coupe for a friend of a friend next week. Battery went flat, he fitted a new one then windows wouldnt close all the way up, I told him over the fone to turn the key to deadlock position and hold which didnt work. He has tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery a few times, now he says windows wont work, central locking has gone off and the footwell lights are staying on. Anybody got any ideas, its gonna be a freebee so I want to spend as little time on it as possible.
    Cheers

check the wires at the side of the boot lid when u open it, its in a black sleeve, open up the black sleeve and check if the wires havent been cut or frayed away, usually happens on these cars from years of opening and closing, my wires were bare and touching each other blowing fuses and killing my central locking

Initially it sounds like the windows needed reprogramming by holding the button down, same as on the Coupe's.

Now it could well be the wiring at the boot hinge as mentioned. http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...problems-t208/ Probably blown some fuses.
