I know there are a few threads around these topics but i am getting confused with everything.
This is my key for my 96 E36 328i Coupe:
Reading the thread on the different alarms, i got very confused as to what i had. I've got the LED by the gearstick, but its the solid jellybean type, not the small round push button type. I haven't got movement sensors inside, but when i've jacked the car up the indicators do start flashing. I haven't found any trace of the siren anywhere and have been struggling to find the control box. I was beginning to think i just had locking with no alarm until this evening. The key has started to stop working when a button is pressed. I had to unlock with the key and the indicators started flashing as soon as i opened the door.
Question one - I understand the coil workings inside the key, but is there a rechargable battery inside the key that can be replaced, or has it lost its code?
Question two - If i have to replace the key, i read they are approx £30 from a dealer. Is this true because remember from working in a multimake car showroom and it costing us £70 for a key, and another £60 for coding from some dealers (of any make).
Question three - Is it possible that i have an alarm fitted seeing as it flashes and i have the LED, but i don't have a siren attached for some reason?
All help appreciated.
