after opening my sunroof today, came to close it tonight, now it wont close, just a clicking sound from what i assume is the motor or relay behind the interior light/sunroof switch, its fully retracted and the weather is somewhat fickle lately, any help would be greatly appreciated

do the windows still work and if its an e36 you should be able to close it manually with 1 of the tools from the kit and by removing the cover where the motor is
its not broke, just under construction

If you pop the cover off you will see that there is an allen key screw. This will allow you to manually close it until you find the main problem i.e: motor/relay etc

Same here. 1996 323i. Works intermittently. The motor makes a clicking noise and it wont open. And the motor gets really hot. After struggling a bit managed to get it opened, cleaned the rails and sprayed it with WD40, wiped and greased. Put it all back together, worked fine and the Pooof... stopped working.

    Aaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!! Help!

Ok!! Got it fixed!!!! This time I took the motor out completely. It seems the last time someone tried to muck about with it, the cogs have not engaged properly with the Bowden cable. Took the whole damn thing out, cleaned, greased and put it back together all nice and tight.
Took less then an hour to do the whole thing. Now no issues, electrical or mechanical.
