Have been looking at a P reg 328 coupe for a friend. Have fixed a few of the faults already. One thing I need to look at is the elec windows, he said they were going up and down a half inch by themselves so he disconnected the battery. I have reset the windows but they still wont close that last half inch. Also the interior lights seem to have a mind of their own, sometimes they come on when the engine is running. Any pointers

Think the unit/Switch on the Bpost is faulty, maybe the connection is loose or wires are faulty.

sounds like the switch on the door pillar try holding the little switch in the window should go up , you could try adjusting the catch so the door puts more pressure on the switch
it is possible that the contacts are dirty on the switch so you could try taking the plate off and giving the contacts a clean.
a new switch plate is £28 from the dealers and this cured my problem as they wear after time
There's an alternative. There's always a third way, and it's not a combination of the other two ways. It's a different way

I see you've made you're decision now lets see you enforce it.

So when you press the switch the exact same problem is happening? It may be the microswitch that is actually faulty then. What about the other side?

Both sides are about a 1/4 of an inch down and do nothing when the doors are open and closed
