yes, it is picking up the chip from the wrong key.

so think, how could you get the aerial just to see the right key?

    yes.
EWS cars all have key chips.

You'll need to either get the ignition barrel from the 328 and fit that, or move the ring away from the ignition barrel and put the 328 key near it.
At the moment you are still trying to start a 328 with the 318 key.

right, now you are into the right problems.
firstly, make sure the key chip and EWS box is the 328 pair.
If that is the case than you should be down to regular problems, wires not connected etc.

Providing you have been given the correct ews kit to match the ECU, you should be able to rule out the immobiliser as a problem.

ok thanks, well i have no way of finding out now if they are a match. but have no reason to beleive otherwise...so im going on the knowlage that its all matching..! so how is the best way to test for a spark?? i unplugged a plug.earthed it,got someone to turn it over,as i held it i looked for a spark? nothing? i did have the old ews in. would that make any difference to the spark??sorry if im coming around as stupid, still trying to get my head around this stuff..ive changed the fuel filter, would that need to refill up?its automatic, just incase that matters.so what are the normal problems people have had, then fixed like this? appriciate all the help.

What do you mean by that ?

So you've change the ECU, yes ?
You've changed the EWS box behind the glovebox (yellow connector), yes ?
You've now changed the chip inside the key, yes ?
