Hi, still stripping out unwanted circuits prior to transplanting loom and mechanics into a classic replica, I have removed the dash (and a lot more besides!), and now have the black plastic component carrier exposed.

What are the `normal` units housed in the black plasic carriers attached to the bulkhead below the windscreen/ behind the glovebox ?

Identification will help me establish whether I need to keep them, or can bin them.

    Pic's would help.....

You would have a ZKE module there which you would need to keep. The alarm system is also behind there too usually

The ZKE (central body electrics) will be the top one with 3 different coloured plugs.

There will also be a WI-WA module somewhere, which is the windscreen wiper control box.
They'll usually have the short name on them somewhere so you can always google it and find out what it is supposed to do.

The long module, with the green, yellow and black connector is the ZKE ! It's for central locking, power windows etc etc.

The small module with the large yellow connector is for the EWS, i'd keep that in the car if you want the engine to run.

The small module with the large blue connector is for the window wipers and window washers.

The small module with the large white connector is the "Relay Module 4"... IIRC it's something to do with with you having 2 extra doors on the rear. It controls the locking and windows to the rear doors.
    The Coupe doesn't have this.

    thanks,
have now identified the ZKE unit `to go`,(3 connectors on the one face, 2 to rear)
also identified the yellow connector unit EWS KEEP !!
The 3rd unit has a white connector-grundmodel IV BMW 61.35-8 353 095. ......do you recognise that part number ?
No other units ! and nothing blue. Only a single relay on the adjacent carrier fed by big red wires....

No box similar to the EWS box, but with a blue connector ?

And i've already said what that box with the white connector is in my previous post !
