    Hiya's,

I have came across so many variations on the 7/8/11 to 18 button obc wiring theme it's mindblowing (my mind anyways lol)

    21 Black/White
    22 Red/Yellow
    23 Green/Violet
    24 Brown/Orange
    25 and 26 Empty

    X17 (blue speedo)

    1 Red/White
    2 Black/White
    3 Brown
    4 Blue/Green
    5 Green
    6 Blue
    7 Empty
    8 Brown/Yellow
    9 Black/Red
    10 Empty
    11 Black/Grey/Yellow
    12 to 14 Empty
    15 Green/White
    16 Violet/Yellow
    17 Brown/Yellow
    18 Brown/Violet
    19 Brown/Green
    20 to 23 Empty
    24 Blue/Violet/White
    25 and 26 Empty

I have a date on the 18 button obc as 2/91/11

Also got the stalk, had an extra wire (offhand, its Red/Yellow, installed stalk now so i can use car, but sure it's red/yellow)

    Problem is this ..................

I've followed a guide, for love nor money can i seem to get the stalk to cycle through to the obc

The obc itself on initial stating displayed ........ Input Time (somert like that, so i set time/date/year etc)

Temp showed in F so no idea if that was reading correctly lol

Now ................. after a short spin

    Consum reading 17.9mpg

    Temp 10.0c

Speed i assume is average so kept dropping as i wrote down, but 7.9miles n dropping

    Dist showin ----MLS--:--A (err wth)

Check when pressed lights full length bar up

Range seems fine 44miles (low on diesel lol)

Code well i aint pressed in case it needs a code lo

Limit i set to 70mph red led stays on etc seems fine

    Time/Date seems fine

Now i still have a brown/red from pin 4 on white obc x1071 plug just hanging lol

Long winded i'm sorry about that, but from the above, does all so far seem ok ?? the Dist i have no idea when/if it kicks in

But, any idea how i connect the stalk wire to cycle (in detail if anyone knows, eg: where earth's best to go etc)

As far as i can search, the extra red/yellow wire on the stalk is for cycling the obc, just no idea where to send it, tried the brown/red from white obc x1071 pin 4

Hopefully someone can decypher what i wrote lol

Head feels like it's gonna explode hehe

    Many Thanks

    Tony

Well i'm getting near to a working 18 button obc

    Couldn't figure the stalk/cycle wiring

I was going by a single guide

Double checked earlier, found one howto differed from another, i altered a wire splice off the speedo white to speedo blue (not very techno description i know lol)

    Voila, mpg/range are dead on

I think i have to : Tap into the red/yellow (RED/YEL) wire of Pin 18 of X1070 and run it to the red/yellow wire of Pin 8 of X1071

(on the howto i used it had me remove from black obc plug and send it to white obc plug)

Then, just try to sort the stalk/cycle

ps: been trying to find a darn manual to explain all the options to me, the Dist still shows basicly lines ---- : --A (somert like that)

Anyways, if anyone has done a stalk on a diesel and can shed some light onto it, it would be much appreciated

    Cheers

    Tony

Temp showed in F so no idea if that was reading correctly lol - You press the "Set" button to change that.

Consum reading 17.9mpg - It is an average.

Speed i assume is average so kept dropping as i wrote down, but 7.9miles n dropping - Your assumption is correct, it's an average

Dist showin ----MLS--:--A (err wth) - This, IIRC, shows you how far you have travelled, and how long it's taken you. Press the set button to start it I think.

Code well i aint pressed in case it needs a code lo - Unless you've wired this into the ZKE, then you can press it as many times as you like.

Limit i set to 70mph red led stays on etc seems fine - It'll bong at you when you hit 70MPH.

    Hiya,

I have everything working bar the dang stalk grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I am checking the bentley diagrams, seems i am missing something very simple

But if i can't figure it out, i can live with pressing obc buttons :( hehe

I went to price a job up, watched the consum1 go up nicely on a steady drive to 41-44mpg

Usually just potter about when local and roads are clear, nice to know my maths at the pump equates spot on to bmw technology hehe

Well cheers for the reply, it helps me out a lot much appreciated

    Thanks

    Tony

Tony, sounds more like you have a dodgy stalk because if you have wired it to pin 4 on white OBC connector then that was correct.
As for the distance, you have to input a distance to your destination and the computer calculates the arrival time for you.
The code, as Ferret says, will only work if you have wired up the the EWS immobiliser system, even then the code is set by you when you turn off the engine, its not like the old Pug keypads where you had a set code that will lock you out if you forget it. With the BMW system you could in theory set a different code every time you switched the car off, as long as you remembered it for the next time you came to start it!

You're right about the dodgy stalk

Anyways, i'll not lose sleep over sleep for the time being

The Dist i'm gonna toy with today lol

The Code part i won't mess with, even if it was working, i could put a code in and prolly forget it later in the day hehe

    Many Thanks for the reply

That means you don't have check control working. Nothing to worry about though.

You put distance in and press set, it wors out ETA based on your current (short term over a few data samples) average speed
