I've read throught the E36 Climate Control guide, but I'm still confused. My friends 323i 1996 cabriolet has intermittent fan on the digital control panel, plus there is no heat when the car is up to temp and the fan is working! Does this mean she has 2 faults (hedgehog & valve problem)? I've already repaired the digital conrol panel (changed the capacitor), so the panel now appears to work okay and is illumintad. Is there a way to test the hedgehog if I remove it? Any advice welcome...

Thanks for reading the guide, finally someone that did their homework before posting!

If you've fixed the head unit and the actual blower isn't working or is intermittent then the FSR is probably dud. If there is no heat then the system needs bleeding or the heater valves are stuck closed. If you do both of those and there's still no heat the heater core (matrix) could be blocked. If you are lucky you might flush it out but if not it will need replacing.

Thanks for the advice, I've taken out the FSR and got a new one on order for tomorrow morning, so I'll let you know how I get on. Your guide is excellent and helped me get the FSR out in about 10 mins...cheers...

Just to let you know the FSR did the trick, its all working perfectly now. I can't believe we were quoted over £500 by BMW to repair this fault, but thanks to this forum I did it myself for under £60 (capacitor repair and new FSR) - this site is truly excellent thanks...

As a newbie here, I can't see how to donate? Maybe a shortcut in the top of page links would help (or more than likely I didn't see it). Let me know and I'll make a donation....cheers....
