hi guys i have a1996 323 coupe which has a fair few miles on it but it has been well looked after and we all know these engines are good for 300k and more if looked afer properly.

I decided to treat the car to 6 new bosch super 4's and 6 litres of mobil 1 0w 40 fully synthetic oil, a new oil filter and a new air filter. since then it has been irregularly misfiring. it misfires worse when cold and once warm is slightly lumpy on idle. i have checked both front lambda sensors crank position sensor idle control valve air flow meter and throttle position sensor and i have come to the conclusion that they are all working. if anyone can point me in the right direction as to where to look next that would be most helpful.

The bloody online catalogue wont work for me at the moment. Im on stupid mobile broadband at the moment.....

Another quick thing to check is to remove the plugs and check the ceramic for any hairline cracks. Ive had this before from suppliers where they have been dropped.....

Are the coil rubbers in good condition?

And have you had the fault codes read for the car?

not particularly no the ends are quite badly worn and broken.i also get my cd skipping when i am under load in second gear like there is a short to the block. does this sound likely??? i have not been able to draw any codes form the car yet as the interface i have is incorrect and i will not spend £150 on one

If the coil rubber ends are split and broken then this will give you misfires, get some new rubbers.

hi, i dont know if this is significant or not but i recently replaced my spark plugs too. Ive got a 323i on a 1998 plate, the M52 engine, same as yours i believe. however the plugs i put in were just FR78X. I'm pretty sure there wasnt a 510 preceding that.
Try this link, its were i got mine and it might have a bit more info for you..
