    Part came but cant get old barrell out?

    The key keeps turning 360 degrees and the steering lock is on the wheel.

    also have this issue when trying to get the barrel out (i assume it needs to be in position 2?)...anyone now if its fixable without destroying things and buying more parts?

    been reading this usful post. I am trying to make sence of it all to appempt a free fix myslef as have the exact same problem with spinning lock, mainly mine wont move at all, then move at all then just spins if it does. I made my own thread but this seam a possiblity will have to re read loads of times. Have peoples fixes been holding up? this thread is 3 months old i think at least

That will then reveal the little silver rod, put a pair of grips on to it and gently turn it back torwards u like you would if you were turning the engine off with the key. The little metal rod will then pop out a few cm which means your key/barrel is now in the off position. You may also need to put a flat head screw driver in to the switch and do the same to that as that is prob also in the on position. I put all mine back together again and it now works better than ever

    Hi mate, amazing stuff for the info for the fix.
    But isn't it best to replace the barrel ? or will the fix work every 8 months ish forever? will the barrel break ?

    Wohoo! Mine is sorted aswell now
    just hope the barrel don't get stuck again !!
    I am keepin the right tools in the car incase it happens again.
    Had to be bump started at college to get home lol !

    I actually havent fixed mine yet. I still start and stop the engine with a screwdriver in the switch. I bought a new barrell from bmw dealer here in belfast, coded for around £50 but cant get the old one out :(

    it probably wont last forever but was talking to previous owner and he did it for about a year and ive been doing it for over a year and is still going strong

    I cant get my barrel out after 3 months of trying with no joy at all

    iso 5817/asme9 Welder
    joiner/carpenter
    And level 2 customer service
    It would be spiteful to put a jelly fish in a trifle
