    i had to do this. i made my own contact to rub against the slip ring to make my horn work but need changing slightly needs to have brush contacts but its not that hard to do just put the brown/black wire to ground and the brown/red to the slip ring with a fabricated contact and it should work thats how i done it and it cost me nothing. if you do decide to put a temp button in for now then make sure you lable it as you will fail if you don't.

    guys does any1 know which relay is for the horn in the e36 318is my horns also stopped working and my mots on monday

    these rings work as an earth if i remember right.
    an earth wire is linked to a contact that connects to the steering wheel.

    another wire is linked to a contact that connects to the steering wheel
    that supplys an earth to an allready live horn

    when the horn button is pressed it links the earth to the horn via these rings.

    so check any plugs going near the steering column.

    could also check the horn itself with a meter/testlamp to see what powers there with your ignition on of course, if it has a live at the horn you know your looking for an earth by the steering column.
