    Traction control shouldn't stop the engine from starting.
    You could really do with a fault code read, the ecu is trying to start the car, but something isn't going to it's plan.

    are there anyother basic steps i can take to try to resolve this problem, i get a click noise from the fuse back when i trun the ign to 2 which should be when the fuel pump primes, i have changed the relay which still hassent solved the issue??

    Can you hear the fuel pump priming behind the seat?

    no the fuel pump does not prime, however with a live feed to it it primes fine, used to work fine with the 318 engnie...

    would putting the fuel pipes on the wrong way do this?

    So so everyone knows i solved this in the end, turns out that the jump connection in the front of the engine bay if installed without the leads for the battery will not power the ECU becuase the bottom connection that runs off to the ecu is connected to the jump point. The device im taking about looks like this:
