When i got home sunday evening i locked the car up and set the alarm as normal. The doors etc locked but the alarm siren didnt beep like it usually does and the drivers side indicators flashed 3 times as normal ......

    BUT

The passenger side inciators lit up and stayed on and the interior lights wouldnt turn off.
The only way to get the indicator lights to go out was either un-lock the car or disconnect the battery. If i connected the battery up again straight away the lights came back on so i left it overnight with the battery disconnected.
The following morning the car was back to normal but this eveing i popped out quikcly and when i parked up and locked the car it did it again !!

Anyone heard of this happening before ? It only ever seems to do it after driving the car

Ive replaced both door strikers and ive fitted a new bonnet pin as the old one was rusting out.

    Forgot to mention.....

when setting the alarm and the indicators flash, the drivers side flash 3 times then go out and the passanger side light up and you can see them dim slightly as if they are trying to flash

The wiring to the boot is the first thing to eliminate. Have a look here...

    1995 E36 325i boot wiring problems!

    and here...

    1995 E36 M3 - boot lid wiring

    and here...

If this doens't fix it see if your alarm module is under the passenger footwell carpet and has become damp. See pic

Cheers mate, ive done all the wires that go into the boot as quite a few were damaged but i will doible check them.

As for the control module i will take a look at that but i think i may have narrowed it down to the bonnet switch.

With the alarm set i can open either door or the bootlid and the hazards flash 3 times to let me know something has been opened but when you open the bonnet the don't do anything. Ive replaced the bonnet switch and the lights will go out if i give it a few blips on the alarm fob but eventually it goes back to how it was.

Also my fuel flap central locking motor has seized, would that have anything to do with it

The bonnet switch may be the cause of the alarm "open circuit" warning you get (the hazards flasing 3 times) but it doesn't explain the lights staying on. This is likely to be a chafed wire or bad connection within the lighting circuit. Have you done anything to the lights lately? Changed a bulb? Fitted a CD player? etc.

Come to think of it i have replaced both number plate lamp bulbs and both front indicator bulbs as they were all shot to hell but they were bulbs from halfords to be honest as i live literally 2 secs down the road from them so it was easy just to pop in so maybe they are cheapo bulbs

Cant beleive this has happened again this morning !!!

One thing i have noticed that i didnt before.... when i lock the car via the alarm fob the doors and boot lock fine but the petrol flap doesnt but when i lock the car via the drivers door the petrol flap locks (i thought it had seized up)

Im still scratching my head as to what is happening ?

So far ive replaced both door swicthes, the bonnet alarm switch, rear number plates bulbs, front indicator bulbs, batteries in the alarm fob, checked all sorts but i just cant figure it out.
It seems to happen after driving the car so the only thing i can think is that there is a lose connection somewhere

Do the indicators and the interior lights still stay on? Have you looked at the alarm module yet?

The interior lights go out its just the drivers side indicators that stay on when i set the alarm

The module and surrounding area is all dry and everything is connected etc

Check the connections from the alarm module to the central locking module behind the glovebox. Also check all the bulbs in the rear lights. Do you have standard lights or an aftermarket type like the Lexus style?
