Sounds like you've got the automatic antenna wire connected to your amp remote wire thats why its only working when your tuner is on.

Put a test lamp between wire your using now and you'll see what I mean. What are the other wires you've got behind your head unit?

the 2 blue ones i have to play with is solid blue and a light blue with white stripe. the solid blue one is going to a solid white wire at min with the rem wire that is connected to amp. if i connect the light blue with white on it the sounds goes really quiet and turns the sub off.

Your remote output wire from the headunit shouldn't connect to anything on the cars wiring loom. It should only connect the the amp remote wire. Could possibly be a brown wire for remote output. Which other wires do you have free on the back off your HU?
