We have a 1996 316i hatchback and the windscreen wipers have stopped working, they have been intermittent for a while & now have stopped all together.
I have googled and I have a stupid Haynes manual that tell me nothing but I can't seem to find the relay which a few people say to check. Has anyone got any tips? I took both sides off under the fascia but couldn't see any relays, and can't seem to find one thats dedicated to the wipers in the relay /fuse box under the bonnet. Oh and I did check the fuses..

Really appreciate any help track down why they have stopped, and if it is the wipers themselves how easy is it to replace them?

    Many thanks

    Alan

The relay is inside a control module, which is behind the glovebox - It's the one with the blue connector.

lol found the relay took it out to show the German & Swedish parts guy, he said I'd have to go to a dealer, ready for a big bill I plugged it back in the car and they started working!
So possibly something intermittent, guy in the shop gave me a good but obvious tip, he said just check the wiper motors are getting power.

Dont go to bmw!!!! simply go to an auto electrician. On my 1 series its a common problem as the relay start to pack up i had the same fault and BMW wonted £20 for a relay, I got the same relay for £8 from an auto electrician.
