    Hi newbie here am looking at a 316 se tonight 96 reg 5 door, the lad who has it has told me the only problems are that since he had a new ignition put on his speedo and petrol gauge have stopped working, does anyone know if this is an easy fix or not?

    The speedo signal and the fuel gauge signal and common earth are all on the same 12 pin connector at the back of the instrument cluster. You could check if this is tight.
    Both circuits use the same earth feed so it would be worth checking the wiring from the speed sensor on the diff. The wires can rub and corrode where they run over the diff.
