I don't think I could live with it like that mate, I'm fussy - and I don't think any potential buyers would be pleased.

    Update:

I didn't get time to get fuses this weekend was so busy. However, it seems to be boot related? I've been in and out of the boot this weekend, and it seemed to have stopped. It went off last night after i'd just got something out of the boot. So I opened the boot, moved a few things, shut it. And it locked fine, no alarm going off etc.

    This mean much?

Have you checked the wires that run through the rubber sleeve from the body to the boot lid? Could be chaffed..

I've heard that BMW alarms set themselves off when the battery is low/flat?

Seems a bit unlikely to me, anyone got any idea if this is true?

    Anyone know if that's true?

It's becoming a bit of a pain now, going off late at night etc and flashing through window. It's not so bad if it goes off straight after you lock it, because you can just turn it off, but that's not always the case as it has a mind of it's own.

Any other ideas? The boot wires don't seem chauffed mate, I pulled them apart other week when I thought that was to do with lights and they're fine - i'll take some pics of them at weekend.

    Any other ideas for now?

I had to look back to check your system, it's a 2T - Correct? In your last post you said you were going to source a siren - Did that happen?

The alarm can set itself off when the voltage drops. They are designed to sound when the power is cut as it believes it is under attack.

Try replacing the backup battery and if that doesn't work take Shams advice and replace the whole system.

It is a 2T yes mate.

I had a look at it but had no idea how to take it apart etc. How would I replace a back-up battery? What battery would I need etc? Sorry to be clueless.

I was also worried if I bought a siren, this could also be duff etc.

Ignore my last post. Just remembered the 2T doesn't have a backup battery. Sham M3 is right, just cut the wires.

I think it could be to do with my boot wires. I pulled the casing back what I thought was quite a way, wires all looked OK. But then I noticed my boot light is dodgy and seems to be a loose wire, and there seems to be a little tear in the rubber casing. Is there a guide to checking that? I know it sounds silly but I don't want to cut it up etc and leave myself with a wiring problem.

How would I disconnect the alarm and retain remote c/l - is this possible?

My central locking in the door doesnt seem to be working, a fuse keeps blowing.

    UPDATE!

I finally cut the casing on the boot wires this evening, to reveal.... lots of frayed touching wires!

So I individually taped them up and then put all back together, and everything seems fine now! Alarm isn't going off straight after I lock it, but there has been the odd time it goes off after a while, so fingers crossed!

But, that needed doing anyway and I strongly advise you all to check your boot wires!

Anyway, hopefully my alarm is now working. I need to get a 5A fuse and that I'm thinking will then let me retain centrol locking with the key in the door.

Siren still doesnt work, i'll have a read of your guide now billy. But you say it has no back-up battery? So once it's gone it's gone?

I've plugged it back in and i'm hoping it might 're-charge- itself?
