Well, my alarm is playing up again.

Previously I had issues with the siren. It never worked, so when I was told to check under the glove box and see if it was connected, I discovered it wasnt.

So I connected it, and it would seem my siren worked.

After a few days it didnt, it died and just wasnt making any noise - I was told the battery in the siren itself is more than likely flat, so due to me not having a clue I just disconnected it again and left it.

    That was several months ago.

The other day I was changing a few fuses because my lights were out, when I went to lock the car on button it wouldnt, was just turning alarm on/off. I realised my drivers door wasnt shut properly - so I closed it and locked the car.

Now since then, whenever I lock the car, wait 5 seconds and something sets the alarm off - indicators flashing etc (siren would be going off obv. if it was connected)

So I have to wait 5 seconds or so after locking it, to push the button to turn alarm off when it starts going off.

    Any ideas?

Checked boot/bonnet switches most common causes of false alarm unless you've got ultrasonics?

How you mean check boot? I checked it was shut etc.

And also the other day I checked all the wiring because I thought I had faulty lights and it's not chauffed etc.

How do I know if i got ultrasonics? Sorry I'm not the cleverest lol.

    Read this again properly...

    http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...3g-ews-t39173/

Even if the backup battery has failed the wiring in the siren is still an integral part of the alarm system and it shouldn't be disconnected unless its causing problems. Connect it back up and see if that works.

There is another concern if the car is blowing fuses in the lighting circuit, this indicates a short somewhere.

    Thanks Billy.

I've reconnected the siren although it still does it.

    With regards to your guide;

Movement sensors - I've no idea where to disconnect these.

Wiring - Wiring in boot all seems fine.

However, fuse no. 7 (5A) keeps blowing. And that is linked to the C/L system.

You have a short somewhere then. Does it blow the fuse when you lock or unlock the doors using the driver or passenger door locks?

I'll go get some fuses and keep an eye on it and test it.

I'm having more problems with it now.

Each time I lock it, the alarm goes off, but it can take me ages to turn it off as the button doesnt seem to work everytime I push it.

I came out to it this morning, after not driving it all day yesterday and the battery was flat. I turned the alarm off and nothing else was left on.

    Any ideas?

I won't be able to get fuses today.

But, when I put the key in drivers door, it doesn't central lock - just opens/locks that door. This I assume is because of the fuse?

I'll get some tomorow and have to do a few tests.

Right, i'm now about to pop out and buy a bundle of fuses and just keep testing what's blowing it.

Any other things I should be testing etc?

Save the hassle and take the alarm out if you can live with opening the key by the door lock.
