bit of an off the wall question- my tuned 96 e36 tds will soon be powering my classic car. The bm rev counter is electronic - so is the smiths unit in my classic which also used a 6 cylinder engine. anyone know if the relevant wires from the bm instrument cluster can be used to drive a smiths 6 cylinder rev counter? I guess power to the instrument would be 12 v in both instances, and the rev counter then amplifies the signal from a signal wire fed from the ECU? worth a go ? or incompatible ?
