Hi guys. MOT time again and I was just checking the car over when I noticed that I only have one rear fog light (drivers side) I assume I should have 2 as there is the same stop/tail light bulb in the passenger side light unit. I've swapped bulbs (what crap fittings!) and no change, just the one drivers side fog light. Running lights ok, head lights ok, front fogs ok, brake lights ok, wiring looks ok, no fuse's blown. Any help would be much appreciated as MOT is on the 17th!

    Thanks.

As far as I know, facelift e36 had only 1 fog light! Or at least e36 facelift lights. My '98 e36 also only has 1 fog light (drivers side) but it should pass MOT because having 1 fog light is enough to pass MOT, as long as it's in the middle or driver's side of the car.

you are correct there is only one rear fog on the car and this is the drivers,I have sent a cable across from the drivers to the nearside light,as for mot purposes only the drivers needs to be working so you will be fine.
    good luck with the mot.
There's an alternative. There's always a third way, and it's not a combination of the other two ways. It's a different way

    Hey, it passed

But wouldn't you know it.....I checked it out 10mins before going to MOT station and all working fine

    Halfway through MOT no....fog light

Nice MOT guy gave lamp unit a couple of thumps and shazam! Working fog light.

Guy reckons the OME light units are naf after a few years and the holders give problems. Said I'd be better off buying after market units that don't have the BMW type bulb holder Any thoughts on this? I have to admit that I have been flashed a couple of times as my brake lights (both tail units) stopped working and so I played with/cleaned the holders and so far, all ok

Looked on Ebay and there are a couple of nice units (black Lexus type?) but I'm not sure which ones to go for. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks once again for taking the time to help out.

    Sam.

Hmm? See what you mean. Guess I'll tray and find something more like OME only without those naff bulb holders. The lot went out again this morning, got flashed twice!
