Hello all, should my M3 made in August 1995 have RCL? It has everything else inc factory parking sensors and cruise! Just seems stranger that it wouldn't and yet I only have one key with no buttons?
    Cheers in advance

I wouldn't mind betting that it should have. Perhaps the previous owner sold the car only with the "valet" key. Have a look on http://www.parsonswebspace.pwp.bluey...bmwkeypage.htm
this might give you a bit more info.

Maybe the previous owner removed the alarm system because they are known to be faulty on e36 after some time. My friend has a "w" reg e36 compact and i remember his car giving him problems with the alarm system. It kept on going off for no reason, so bad in fact that he would be embarrassed parking his BMW at college. He would leave it on a gravel place near college.
I have a "R" reg e36 and one of the previous owner's removed the alarm system, possibly because it was giving them problems too. I just have the master key, and the fob thingy doesn't work as there is no alarm on the car. Only the bracket in the engine bay where the siren used to be remains lol. But i still have central locking if that makes sense.

Has the PO removed the module or just the siren? If you have CL on the fob then the module might still be there!

No, I got no buttons too. Just the key and my "Schmiedmann" keyring that I got from BMW performance

Those like tiny speaker things on the passenger side and drivers side on the A-pillar? I thought those were for the climate control

Lol Well I would follow one and see there the wire goes, because I'm guessing if it goes to the main unit of one of the "factory" alarms you will just need to identify it and program a fob ot two.

Of course the wires may lead nowhere
