    Hi,
My ECU (DME - belongs to an 1995 E36 M3 Euro) looks bad and it does not seems to produce any outputs (errors).
I'm thinking about replacing it and I'm wondering whether someone can help with a couple of questions:
    1. My ECU (DME) is a Bosch M3.3 (Bosch part number 0261203075). Do you know if I can find this model in other BMW cars, or even other manufactures?
    2. Is it exchangeable retrospectively with other ECU? If yes, what are the matching part numbers?
    Thanks in advance,
    Nir

You won't find it in any other car, only the 3.0 M3, and it is the only one which you can use for your engine.

Thx again. Do you have any idea where can I find an interface connection cable from laptop to car in order to do the diagnostics myself?

    Hi,

I've read what you wrote, but Pelican says something else that I wanna check.

My DME Bosch part number is 0261203075. I'm trying to find a used DME to replace mine, but this item is rare which leads to high prices (~$300).

I see that some BMW models (530i, 540i, 740i, 840i) are using the same Bosch Motronic M3.3 software (part number 0261200404). These unit's are fairly common and cheap (~$70).

According to Pelican, if the DME is the same Bosch version, and has the same connector, than units is interchangeable and all I have to do is install the M3 chip on the other DME.

Did anyone try it before? Do you know if I can swap the 0261203075 MDE with 0261200404 DME with no problems?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Nircom

When they say the same version, they mean the same "075" or "404" ECU, not using an M3 6 Cyl chip in an 8 cyl ECU

There are no matching engine types that you could take an ECU from.
It would need to be something with 6 cylinders, 3 knock sensors, and no vanos control (vanos control is done with the VNC controller)
