After a little assistance from fellow M3 coupe owners.

This evening I fitted my new door switches and have finally rectified the problem that made me take my car off of the road

    I have a question though...

Regardless of engine running or not, If the window has been lowered and then the door is opened the window automatically closes I have a feeling that something may be amiss as I've not seen this happen on another coupe before

Just hoping a member can confirm my thoughts please

As you might have read in an earlier post of mine , my old 318 had a faulty widow mechanism , the new one has , and after checking the old receipts that came with the car i noticed it had been replaced at bmw in 1998 .
So it seems theres a recurring theme with them .
I have seen faulty windows do all sorts of things out of the ordinary but after having 2 e36 bimmers in a row with same problem it does not surprise me.
At a guess , knowing the way Bimmer windows lower on opening but still remain power active for a short time , id say it was still a bit glitchy .
Does it cause so much stress , and is it going all the way up when you open the door , if so then it is a problem .

It goes all the way up to the correct position at the moment so it's not a problem...YET. It just seems unusual

I'll have to check the other side and the sunroof to see what happens to them

Mine only goes up when I press the alarm button, think this is a feature in the alarm system from BMW.

I do however seem to have every now and then I will close the driver side window and it goes right up then comes back down about two inchs....? never really bothered me as its always worked second time.

Appears there is a fault with mine then

It's not causing bother as it's not yet in use and it goes right the way up. It will be another fault to look into though
