Oh boy oh boy oh boy, A20 RYM is as happy as a pig in sh*t

I have today found the cause of why my windows would not drop the 5mm when opening and closing the doors. It is also the reason that my interior lights would not operate on opening too.

Went to see a friend of mine, James at Beemer Redeemer and he had another coupe there on an identical year within 5 minutes the cause of the problem had been identified and the new parts had been removed from the donor vehicle and supplied foc.

Parts = 2 x door jam latches that bolt to the pillar that the door latches to.

Once I arrived home went straight out to the car, found the plug that was lost in the loom plugged in the latch pressed the little pin in and hey presto.

I will be fitting these very soon and commencing work on the other small niggly problems that I have. This was the major one

The beauty of all this is I only went to see him about finding a driver door and OSR brake calliper for the Touring

We spoke about a little while back but they didn't have a coupe in for breaking at the time.

My 1992 318is coupe had the switch on the handle and it now seems that BMW changed the design and put it on the latch part of the door pillar

The early switches are built in with the lock, see here http://home.earthlink.net/~frankie66...croswitch.html

I thought you would have started a thread about the problem

Good to hear you've sorted it
