    right then fella...

Has the new head unit got two connectors that look like 'female' versions of the two you have currently hanging out of the dashboard?

On the back of the new head unit, there should be a fuse in-line with either the red or yellow wire (possibly both)... Check those fuses are ok....

Did you get any light at all when you connected the two black plugs (I'm pretty sure these will only go in one way as they are 'shaped')?

If you plug the old head unit back in, does it light up and work (this will determine if the problem is car side or stereo side)...

Did you connect the RCA cables to the head unit? Did you connect the blue wire hanging out of the dash to anything? (more on this after you answer )

Grab some pics of the back of the new headunit too and I'll see what else we can look at....

    good luck!

Do you get anything from the radio at all?
Can it eject cds, make any noises when connected?

Of the 2 blocks, the one with the most wires in the speaker connectors, and the one with 4 wires in the power.
Check the locations of the wires, I've often seen a switch around of perm live and switched live.

You might be able to download a manual from Alpine which will have the wiring diagrams in it, and it'll tell you what is needed.

Hmmm... there is no power... So no CD ejection or noise...

yeah it says in the manual that the one with the most wires is speakers... It does say there should be a 5th wire but I dont get it...

How do I trace the wires.... I can only see whats in front of me... never done this before....

Sometimes new stereos won't work unless you undo transport bolts usually in the top of the headunit that the suppliers, not sure on alpine ones but check the manual to see but some won't work unless these screws get taken out first.

Also alpine power needs to be swooped round sometimes

I will check by little book when I get a minute
