    Check the bootlid wiring...

And replace the two rear door solenoids for those of the post 1996 model. They were upgraded.

Well i will have a look at that, what else would cause these problems, as the drivers lock just wont let me lock the car only unlock, ive sprayed wd40 in there and the key goes in better and unlocks lovely but still wont unlock. and surely both the rear door solenoids would go at the same time?

Sounds to me like you have a couple of problems, check the fuses for the central locking and also with the door card off disconnect the bar that goes to the door lock barrel then try locking the car with the key. See if the barrel turns.

Right guys me and devonlad2010 tried all the wiring today and found the boot lid wires were all broken which meant the boot wasnt locking, took all door cars off and wires all good, the relays and fuses all ok aswell so do ya think its just both the rear door solenoids that are gone as its only them doors that dont lock, also the key works to lock the car if ya only dont put it in all the way. i have to pull it out about 3mm then it locks and unlocks fine any ideas?

Sounds like the rear door solenoids are the culprits, you can test them once you have them out.

And when you say the locking works if you pull the key out a bit, do you mean the central locking on the other doors or just the locking on the drivers?

Sounds to me like a problem with the door switch possibly or the door wiring, have you checked the wiring where it exits the cars body and enters the door?
