I had a '96 E36 316 without the alarm install or connector installed and my windows went up. I believe its something that is on all BMWs. I'm not 100% certain about this, but i think its suggesting something up with your ZKE module?

As above, make sure you check all fuses. Get a multimeter and run the probes between the contact points on top of the fuses if they're not the "wire visible from top" type.

The broken wires to the boot (as shown in the link) can affect the central locking.

    epic revival!

    Right,

i have (i think) found the problem... which is lock actuators...now i read somewhere that the central locking has "control" actuators... and that if the control one fails it causes the other side to die?!

My drivers one still works... so i assume the passenger one has just died... but both rears and the boot don't lock... would that be the case?

Have you had a damp carpet on the passengers side at all. There is a loom/connectors which run under there which can corrode and break causing central locking/interior lights problems.
