Hi all not sure if this is in the right place but I woke this morn to go out in the car and it wont start, it was fine last night but today it won't even try to start. I have 2 keys and have tried both but only the lights come on and even they are dim looking. The other strange thing is that the factory alarm which never worked since I got the car has now started working!

Could this be the immobiliser stopping the car starting or maybe a flat battery?

    All help needed.

I have a mechanic I know on the way to check the battery and starter, but if it is the immobiliser is there a way to reset this? as all I have is the key to override the alarm siren under the bonnet

You don't need to reset the immobiliser. The siren will stop when you have battery power back.

Thanks I have read through that post and it was informative but now since getting the battery in the car charged and started the alarm stopped working again the led has stopped flashing, is there an easy fix to get this going again?

Going by the guide it would be a 2T or 3T, I was happy to not fix it when I thought it was broken but now after the battery problem and the alarm decided to work when the battery was dead I thought it would continue to work after the battery started again but to no avail. I am hoping to get it going again as I am bringing the car to an auto spark to fit a remote locking to the central locking and the kit can be wired to the siren so hoping to get it going before seeing him.

You'll have the 3T as the 2T doesn't have a backup battery in the siren. The 3T fob should operate the central locking - do you have one?

No I didn't get one when I got the car I only got the key for the siren and two keys for the car itself. Would I be better getting the remote kit installed or trying to get a fob online? Can I also get the alarm working without the fob so it will come on when I lock the car with the key the way it was when my battery was dead?

Just reading the guide again I think it is actually the 3G mk1 alarm as there is a key switch over ride whereas the 3T does not have the keyswitch.

Either way they are not user friendly systems. Just carefully cut it out and have an alarm that activates the remote locking fitted. Your car has the EWS II immobiliser built in to the ignition system so unless someone steals your keys they won't get away with your car.
