Since I got the car, the key fob I received with it has never worked; which is a real PITA!!!!

I have one of the one-button fobs, and have been searching the forum for how-to's on setting it up to work with the car, but can only find information on the three-button fobs!

The red light on the key is flashing, so I think the battery is fine - although I'm going to buy a replacement later when I nip into town!

However, how the heck do I work the car with it?!

    This is the one:

Have been out trying the 'three-button' way, but no avail!

    Hmm, I actually don't know.

    How would I check that?

The small alarm sounder in the engine bay is set to 'off', and I don't have the key to turn it on. Would that make a difference?

the alarm module is usually behind the glovebox, check the wiring to and from it, as for not having the key, it just means u wont get the alarm working.

I'll check this when I get a chance!

So without the key, it just means the alarm itself won't work; but I'd still be able to remotely lock and unlock the car?

Hi. Wifes 96 Compact had only 1 remote, dealer supplied new one and programmed it, years later found that the wiring had been butchered and no alarm but central locking works with fob. Still cannot fathom out how the Dealer managed to programme the fob and not know the alarm was fooked and tell us. Jim
The older I get the wrong bit gets stiff !!
