I stripped out ALL of the interior yesterday to put in my new shiny interior. Seats, parcel shelf, dash, carpet, the works.

Now, the car won't start and the alarm is blaring as soon as I open the door.

There was a red wire which wasn't connected to anything under the drivers side behind the kick panel.

There was a clip with a red and a blue wire coming from it hanging loose which I put back into what I am told was the "Fuse Relay" box.

The small red alarm light is flashing constantly, whether the alarm is blaring or not.

I can't press the red light in anymore, as it was slightly damaged when putting the clocks in!!

The small box at the front of the engine bay is set to the off position, but a secondary sounder is blaring. I don't have the key for it, either.

Aaron. Have you tried locking and unlocking the door with the key? Some used to have drive away protection...

    Aye, Steve, tried that.

I'll have a look at the alarm tomorrow to see what one it is.

    Too drunk now!!!

Billy, it is a 3G mk1. The airbag in the steering wheel was replaced with a spare, the original is a little knackered.

Putting the original back, the alarm is no longer blaring but the car isn't starting. Dad's had this problem on an e36 before. He said he thinks it means there's a fault, but can't remember how to reset. Have locked and unlocked doors again. Still no
    life.

You could try unplugging the alarm module. When you reconnect don't plug in the movement sensors.

Problem solved. Dad sorted it as soon as I hit submit.

He left the key in the ignition turned fully on, disconnect battery, reconnect, turn ignition off, car then started when he turned it back!!
