    Hi
i have noticed the range at witch my alarm remote works is getting shorter i had this before with my rover 220 tomcat and all it needed was a new battery BUT after replacing i lost sync with the car and it would not start (in my wisdom i changed the battery in the local asda car park )
So can i change the battery in mine or do i have to take it to bmw?
If so last time rover charged me £90 to do it any idea how much bmw would charge???
    Thanks

On my old Saloon, it had a 3T alarm, and I just changed the battery in the fob, and everything worked fine - Didn't lose sync. I can imagine that the 2T will be the same.

Also, if the alarm is standard and not an aftermarket one, then even if it does lose sync, you should still be able to start it as the immobilizer is in the key, not the alarm.

It's something to consider, but as i've never had a 2T, I would maybe get the opinion of someone with a 2T alarm.

You can change the batteries yourself, just make sure the alarm isn't set. Here's some info on the alarm systems...
